Sorry for the newb question - I did a search but could not find exactly what I was looking for.

I am in the market to add the AVIC-Z1 to my E46 BMW nad I want to make sure I get everything I need.

Most importantly, I also need to know what to look out for in buying the main unit. From what I gather, there are some differences depending on the date of the build of the unit, and I am not very clear on exactly what I should be on the lookout for.

Anyway, here is what I have on my list:

* AVIC-Z1 unit - please help with what build date I should be looking for.

* Pioneer ND-BT1 Bluetooth Module

* Pioneer CD-IB100II iPod adaptor

* PAC SWI-PS for steering wheel inputs

* Custom made double-DIN bezel

* OEM Bmw AC Radio carrier - part number 51 45 8 237 560

I'm going to continue searching and reading, but if some generous person could help me find threads related to the following, I'd be very grateful:

- Speed pulse connection (apparently gets you much more accurate readings on location)

- Moving or adding another bluetooth mic. I hear the sound quality is not great and some people have managed to add or move the mic to a better location

- Anything else I should be considering (I read enough about the bypass so I think I am okay there)

I'm not big into beamers so what exactly is an e46 and what year? That would help alot for getting the vss info for you.

the biggest thing to watch out for is where you buy all of those products from... there is tons of BS scams out there because of the high demand and limited availability of the Z1.... be careful, and be sure to do a search once you think you've found a place to buy, chances are someone has already had an experience with them and has wrote about it for you to read... do research..... I've been looking for about 3 months now and STILL don't know where I'm buying from!!!HAHAHA

there are many threads out there on what to watch out for and latest pricing for this and that. common sense rules every time!

Thanks everyone. The E46 was the model of the 3 series that ran from 2000 to 2006.

I'm continuing my searching, but if anyone has direct experience with this, please chime in.
