I have an iPod cable that my old classic iPod used and it played and charged from the glove box. How come the new stuff won't work? Do I need a new cable?

what cable do you have? is it a ebay brand?
Apple changed the bottom connector on the iPhone 4 and the new iPods. It swapped the charging location. Total d-bags
