According the the service manual, there should be an IP-bus, digital out and another, unnamed interface, between digital out and GPS (looks like a BNC from the photo) - they're just blanked off on my UK model.

 

1) Are they really there, and working?

2) Why are they blanked off?

3) Could I use it as an audio/line in? I've seen this cable http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-ip-bus-aux-cable.html

 

I'm trying to find a way to take the sound from my car's phone integration into the AVIC - the car presents "telephone module audio in +/-" - would that work?

 

Would I have to select the IP-bus as a current input (ie like AV1, AV2...) or does the AVIC just pass any sound received direct to the amp/speakers?

 

Yes, I know I could use the AVIC's built-in bluetooth, but the in-car unit is far better.
