I just had an Avic f700bt installed with an iSimple cable to my AV1 input. I use this for my iphone to play Pandora, Spotify, etc... I have the Apple AV composite cable connected to the USB. USB on the menu shows Ipod connected and album art displays, but no sound. When I asked the installer he said I can only use the USB for jump drives. Is this true, or do I need the OEM Pioneer CD-IU230V cable?
F700bt usb ipod/iphone not working
did you go into av settings menu and make sure that AV1 = ipod (not off). I have found out that this needs to be done after a hard reset.
Yea. I realized that I can't have both. I was trying to have my iphone connected to AV1=video to use for Slingplayer, while also having the option of an ipod connected to the usb. Apparently this setup won't work, so I just use a flash drive connected to usb.
you could connect slingplayer to the a/v input jack on the front (av2).
Yea but I don't want all those cables hanging out of the front.
so wait a minute, you have a Isimple cable plugged into AV1? and then you also have the Apple composite video cable plugged into both the USB AND the AV1 (as shown as needed in the manual) also???
how do you have two cables plugged into the same AV1 input at the same time? this is probably your problem as for the apple video cable to work, you need to have both the usb and the composite video part of the cable plugged in.
the whole point of using the composite video cable from apple is that pioneer uses the USB to control the device and deliver all of the text information, then they use the audio and video cables to deliver sound and picture. otherwise, you would just use a standard ipod sync cable. since you have a different cable plugged into the spot where you need to have those AV connectors plugged in, you probably dont have it connected right and that is why you can see the ipod information but get no sound.
this has been covered over a thousand times now, every single "HELP, i get no sound out of my ipod" is always because of the same thing, installer/operator failure. a little searching would have led you to the correct answer pretty quickly. also you probably should find an installer that actually knows something about the AVIC's or that can at least RTFM.
