Im installing a D1 into a 07 trailblazer ss and I wanted to know if the reverse wire has to be hooked up and if so is there anywhere up front that it can be done.

Also the VSS wire Im told is the radio 12pin plug cavity E, is this true?

vss I have in a different place it may very well be there.

No hook up needed for the reverse wire then, thats good. I just noticed that the manual was saying that if you do not hook this up the GPS will be all screwed up with direction

I dont believe it to be used in the direction as the ant. is able to do that for you. Provided you are in an area where gps signal is obtainable, not in a tunnel or something. it triggers the backup camera, typically.

You can hook it up if you like just to be a more complete install.

If you drive for extended distances in reverse, it may make it act screwy. Outside of that, I don't think it is super-important, except as tillithz said, if you are somewhere that the GPS reception is compromised.

Good so Im thinking I just need to hook up my VSS wire and ground out the brake wire along with the one wire I need to insert into the harness, I should be good.

Anyway, the reverse wire is pretty easy to get to, it's a light green wire at the fusebox under the rear seat on the driver's side.

don't guess you could tell me where to find the VSS wire on my trailblazer then? I tried the link and no worky for me.

It's green with a white stripe at the PCM on the driver's side of the engine, pin 21. You can also look for a green/white on the radio harness, not sure if it is there, but look anyways.

You for giggles one night I drove about 1/4 mile in reverse. The avic tracked me just fine. Nothing screwy at all. By the way no the reverse was not hooked up when I did this.
