i wanted to show every one the best way to stream pandora...

watch video's from and i device, even iphone 4s, and all ipods...

listen to music and much more...

1. BUY PART - OPTION 1 apple users only- a isimple cable is76 about $25 on amazon as of 2/2012 ( this cable hooks into the bottom of your ipod like a charger does, on the other end of the cable it has all av composite ends video/audio/ and +/- )

or

OPTION 2 any other audio/video users - with a head phone jack, android, even iphones - 3.55m to composite cable. cheap under $10. TIP- get the kind that fits your device.

2. INSATLLATION - access the back of your unit;

a. connect the 3 composite cables yellow/white/red, to video input and audio input on the back of the Z1,

(TIP insulate each, with one wrap of electrical tape for no sound interfeance later on.)

b. connect the + & - black and red wire to the black and red wires on the back of the Z1 unit.

c. run the cable that will work best for your vehical.

3. CHANGE SETTINGS - in the av settings of your Z1, turn ON your AV INPUT, from "off" to "Video" (stock this feature is turned "OFF" so you must turn it on.)

this works on the Z1 Z2 and Z3!

the difference between option 1 and 2 is:

option 1 is the best option, it will even charge your iphone4s! and you dont need to keep your other charger in you cigerate lighter anymore.

option 2 is cheaper and more universal supports lots of devices, but will not charge anything.

the isimple is76 cable currently doesnt charge the ipad, but also wont drain your battery when its connected, i contacted isimple company and they have made one that supports ipad, but its not released every where yet. i found the one at a local audio shop with the ipad charging support, but they wanted $80. for it. thats $55. more than amazon.

Does it work on 4s?

According to iSimple's website:

iPod Compatibility Note: The iSimple® MediaWireâ„¢ does not support the iPod shuffle

Battery Charging Note: This product provides battery charging for all dockable iPod and iPhone models.

that is true it doesnt work on the shuffle. but 95% mostlikely wont be using the shuffle, its all about the phones for most people. Guys the newest version of this isimple is76 cable charges ipad!!! and has always charged the iphone 4s.

Thanks for the input, is what I was looking for my iPhone 3G, so you can connect battery charge,

One question, do you know if handled through the Z1 or the iPhone?

Thank you,

I wish i read it before I completed my install. Do you know if there's a cable that will play and charge Android phones?

I found this cable for the Android HTC... It claims the following:

Video signal is put out through RGB standard output while keeping your devices' battery charging.

This cable also features an extra Micro-USB charging socket which is built into the side of the plug of the cable, so you can be sure your device stays charged.

Features:

  • Micro USB
  • Left, Right audio and Video RCA
  • In-line Ext Micro-USB charging socket on plug

tried using the headphone jack of my Iphone 4 to the black and red audio input on the z-2 and turning the aux on in the settings, but it did not work.

Will try buying the isimple cable and see if that works.

Any suggustions will be appriciated. Thanks.

p007,

You need to use the "AV input" setting and NOT the "AUX input". It will work as you have it set up.

So I just installed the iSimple is76 and now I can watch videos on my Z1. But now I've lost my GPS mapping, all it shows now on my map is the red arrow on a blue screen and **:** for the time, oh and the MPH is way off too. In park it shows 0mph but as soon as I put it in gear with the brake held, it slowly increases mph and I'm not moving. Any ideas???

None of the symptoms that you describe can be caused by connecting an AV cable. I assume you had to remove the unit to access the AV connectors on the back. It sounds like like you no longer have GPS antenna signal. Check signal strength in the menu options and report back. Maybe you did not reconnect the GPS antenna?

I checked signal strength and it shows OK with a green antenna but the bars to the right of that are grey, should they be lit up green to show strength?

I think they light up orange. You should have at least 4 or 5 lit up.
