I was wondering if i just grounded the parking brake lead and put it on a switch if i could bypass the system rather than moving leads in the harness. I'm new to this and I'm sure questions like this have been asked millions of times before. I think its pretty stupid that you have to apply the parking brake just it input a route in the gps.

Judging by the fact that you use the word "leads" instead of the word "wires" I suspect you are from somewhere in Europe or elsewhere other then the US. If that is the case the answer to your question is yes. Relocation of the mute wire is not required for non US units.

nah its a US model. i thought I'd maybe just be able to ground the wires. It's a pain in the ass trying to get that little mute wire out
