Standby button?

I did some searching, but didn't really find an answer to my question. Is there a way to add a UI element to 'sleep' the F series 900BT unit? I ask because I deliver pizza, and while my keyless entry and remote start lets me leave the car locked and running when on the road, when I pull up at the shop, I turn the car off. It takes a few minutes - well maybe not that long, but long enough to notice, for the unit to power up again. It has the 12v constant and ignition source. I was thinking about putting in a 12v bypass switch so the unit remains on when I turn the car off, but that also means the stereo would continue to play. Is there a way to add a hibernate / sleep UI element? I doesn't even have to really be a hibernate state. In truth, I'd prefer to just have a button that would pause the stereo and turn off the screen.

I'm pretty good with mods - hardwired and soft, but wanted to ask an see if anyone has a creative fix for this already before I dive in. WindowsCE is also not my thing - but like any software, once you learn it, you can make stuff happen.

Really like the unit so far. Running the 4.01 hybrid mode and hope to try the AvicNet 2.1 tomorrow using Chuck88's stuff.

Cheers,

A

I might be answering my own question here, but could I tie into the wired remote harness to accomplish what I'm looking to do? I'm planning on setting the reverse camera up eventually, but if I can change a 'hardwired' button to both pause and turn off the screen, that would solve all my problems. Then I could simply use a manually switched 12v constant (like a bank of rechargeable batteries in case I forget one night to turn off the ignition bypass and drain my car battery!)

Thoughts? Experiences?

Thanks - this place has been an incredibly helpful resource.
