First, I read just about every thread on here last night, and the reason i'm posting is the majority of the links seem to have gone bad at this point. (in other words, skip the flaming cause I did search and haven't found a solution, one of the links even says the domain has been siezed by the FBI)

So I have the F700BT, its been in the car for all 3 or 4 years I've had it, and about a week ago it was running fine, then suddenly would hit the splash screen and shut down. I tried loading the 2.008 update, but about halfway through it fails every time. I got it to a point that I can press menu and see some basic system settings but I can't really do anything. Is there anyone left with a backup boot disk copy, or a possible fix file system? if so please let me know, as I don't really want to replace this radio at this point. any and all help appreciated!

You couldn't have looked to hard if you read 1/2 or more threads just on front page asking for help I've answered most problems and have even loaded a torrent with every possible avic F US file you could possibly need. Look for thread labeled torrent full of avic files. Download torrent I hear it's uploading much quicker mind you it's really large, 8.4 gb.

Your units files corrupted, can you go into menu and hit AV/FM but it reboots after like 3 mins?

You need to load test mode 2.3 files (its the folder inside the 2.3 that says "test mode) and a copy of backup files find in my flash disk back up folder I'd use. 2.0 to start then later upgrade once unit is good to go. Put those files on SD card in the root location go to car and start it. Get into testmode (looks like old windows 95 in this case it's actually CE). Open explorer from start menu navigate to SD card edit select all edit copy all. Now open a second explorer window (start menu explorer) open grey icon labeled MyFlashDisk then edit paste. Of it gives not enough room do continue anyway if asks to replace files click yes all.

I'm not all that savvy with torrents. I'm currently in process of downloading the 8.4gb, but it is painfully slow. After it finishes tonight I'll mess around with it tomorrow and hope for the best. And I did spend almost 4 hours searching through threads, but again, i'm not that familiar with torrents and the p2p sharing. (the last real p2p I did was napster before it went to hell, a real good friend of mine got tied up in all that legal crap and I just decided to avoid it all) Either way, thanks for the advice and after I get that done if I need anymore help i'll let you know.

Thanks

Thanks for the help Tail24, with a combo of your files and posts, plus a few other files sourced here on avic411, and the extremely well written sticky in this forum, I was finally able to get the old bird up and running again. It was most definately a challenge, not for those with short patience or faint of heart, but it ended far better than a $150 + shipping option on ebay!

Thanks again!
