hey guys this is my first post here, unfortunatly its not for a good reason...

anyway

i have an Avic D1 in my car, ive had it for about a month or so worked great... i never did the by pass mod till the other day, which also seemed to work great

as im driving today, the screen turns black (but if you touch it you can tell its still on (lcd go effect)), and the buttons stay lit up, but they dont make noise when you touch them

the cd continued to keep playing till i turned the car off (and you could change the song)

now when you turn the car on, it says loading pioneer navi than the screen goes black (but still on) lights on buttons work but no sound, and the buttons dont do anything including the open button)

anyone hear of this? im thinking its gonna have to be replaced but hey you never know

this didnt happen till i did the bypass mod, which seemed to work just fine and i know i did it right

i disconnected the bypass thinking it had to do with that, but it didnt help

PS. how important is the speed sensor wire and reverse wire... i didnt bother connecting them, and eveyrhting seems to work just dandy without them... i didnt know where the wires were located

well if bypass was done right I would suppose that it didnt cause this problem. also, mabye you have the video turned off, i think its the p button you hold or press quickly to bring back the video. For the vss and reverse you dont have to hook them up. Like its been said a million times, the vss is only good for about 4 feet of accuracy and vehicle dynamics. the reverse is really only for the backup camera trigger.

as for the what the vss and reverse wires are and where, you would have to tell us what vehicle and then we can respond with what we know.

thanks ill try that... i guess thats possible... although i dont think thats it, ill call pioneer tomorrow

i guess ill hook up the VSS wire, as long as its not to much of a pain to get too

this should be an easy "wheres the wire" for you

04 sti

hahaha, naa i dont know the 04. but I feel the sti is a different beast then most cars. but um

Speed Sense = green/yellow ECM below glove box On the non-turbo models the vss is in pin 10 of the 20 pin plug. On the turbo models the vss is in pin 1 of the 22 pin plug. On the STi models the vss is in pin 27 of the 35 pin plug.

The vss wire is also found behind the instrument cluster.
