It appears that the Z1 has a nicer looking interface/software.

i was just wondering if the Z1 and N3 share the same interface in terms of the menus, the features, the buttons, etc.etc.

i can't seem to find any release date information of the z1 or n3 on pioneer's website.. they don't mention when it was released

The N series came out long before the z series. About 2 years. Specifically, the z1 and n3 were released around the same time

They did come out about the same time. Read here somewhere that the Z1 is Microsoft based and I am sure because of its HDD they were able to do more in terms of interface

performance wise, how good are both? (route calculation/re-calculation and searches)
