Hey Folks,
First off, wanted to say thanks for all the information available on here. I recently upgraded my F700BT, briefly blank-screened it, and brought it back from the dead thanks to the information and backups available here.
I am researching an inter compatibility mod that aims to bridge our AVIC headunits and iOS through Siri. I can envision this being beneficial as Siri has a tremendous ability to find and narrow down information via simple voice commands.
For example, if a user asks siri to find a donut shop, and the phone gets that address, I'm trying to build the glue that would allow that address to be sent to the head unit. Either it would be ingested as a POI, or if I can get deep enough into the avic OS, it would automatically route to the address. Another possible scenario would be receiving a text message from a friend with a geotag location of the diner they're meeting you at. Same automatic ingest.
What I need to start the process is a POI file that would be generated by the AVIC Feeds PC application to figure out if I can get iOS to write them. Once I get that finished I can figure out how to get the phone and the head unit talking. It would most likely be through wireless or bluetooth, as the dock connector is heavily locked down in the phone software.
If this has already been implemented (and I understand avic feeds for iOS exists, but AFAIK, only for 3 models) I apologize for making a duplicate thread.
Thanks,
gts
