Hi!

I am quite new to the AVIC nav units, after recently got myself a F9310BT, the one which is made for VW integration. The unit works like a charm as a car stereo but I am having some issues regarding the integration with the vehicle.

I have a 2009 VW Tiguan with control buttons on the steering wheel, and with parking sensors. The HU is connected to the car via a Can Bus unit. If I press any of the four buttons on the left hand side of the steering wheel, (v+, v-, mute or phone) the player just skips one step forward. If it is on radio it switches between FM1, FM2 and FM3 each time I press any of the buttons. If I press the buttons step forward or step backwards on the right hand side of the steering wheel, the volume on the player changes up and down. When I activate the parking sensors installed in the front and the back of the car, nothing happens with the player. I should have gotten a graphic illustration of the distance between the car and obstacles around it.

I took out the F9310BT and reinstalled the original player, and the steering wheel controls then worked as they should. Then reinstalled the F9310BT and the same issues is present. Everything else works as it should.

Have anyone experienced some of the same issues? Or has any advice how to start troubleshooting what is wrong?

Any advice will be appreciated!

Cheers

I know this is quite an old thread but I've only just joined this forum and have just installed this same unit. My car is a 2005 MK5 Golf GTI and the f9310BT came with the canbus adapter that you mention. I've installed everything myself and it all works fine with mfsw functionality retained as before. The only thing that doesnt work for me is the rear parking sensor and climatronic display on the unit but I have been told that this is because the canbus gateway in my car is older and doesnt allow these features to be received by the unit. The only remedy for me is to upgrade to a newer gateway and you may have to do the same.

In terms of the mfsw buttons working incorrectly, this again may have something to do with the canbus gateway in your vehicle but could also have something to do with the canbus adapter harness that came with the unit being for an older/newer/different car.

Obviously it's been a while since you posted this issue but this info might be useful to someone else stuck in the same predicament.
