Hi everyone,

I recently purchased an Alpine PXAH-800 DSP. It is an upgrade from a Pioneer DEQ-P7650 I had setup from my AVH-P3250BT. I've managed to link together the AVH-P and Alpine DSP via two channel RCA (or 6 channel Front/Rear/Sub). It all works fine with DVD/CD/iPod etc.

However, the optical out on the AVH-P head unit does not seem to link via the 3.5mm optical cable to a toslink into the Alpine DSP. The cable does not have any sharp bend, nor is any red light being emitted at one end on connection.

I am expecting only the DVD utilise this function, as iPod will work via RCA (as was the case on the DEQP processor). I may also want to note the factory DEQP (5or6 pin) optical cable was via a conversion box directly plugged into the optical out of the AVH-P h/u (exactly like a mono 3.5mm audio jack). Has this box anything to do with it.

Also, my hunch is when the DEQP processor was connected, the IPBUS may instruct the headunit to output optical when on DVD function. It may tell it to turn off and on. If this is the case, (I could be completely missing the point, stop me if I am), then can any mod be made to bypass this 'hand-shake'?

Cheers,
