Noobie question. I have a N1 single din unit and like the double din better. Can I upgade mine to use a double din screen? What would I need and how much money would it be? I have a 03 SSS w/ factory bose. It has the pac for the bose and a camera. Thanks Jeff~

And to answer your question, you just need to uninstall your N1, and buy a D1/D2/D3 or an X1. They're double din and don't use a hideaway unit. They work pretty much the same way and have pretty much the same features, but are double din. The X1 is like super crazy top of the line. The D2 would be a good replacement I think.

The AVIC-X1 isnt a top of the line product. it is only the European version of the AVIC-N1. the x1 comes with the CNDV-40MT European maps

I didn't think the D played DVD's. I want all the fuctions that I have now.

Yup all the same features as the n series (smaller screen though 6.1 or is it 5.8 I don't remember) plus, new ipod interface, bluebooth, etc.

Yes, the D3 is double din and plays dvds. There is plenty of information on it on this site or pioneerelectronics.com. I have seen N1s go for 300-400 bucks, maybe more if you find a sucker. Most people want the improved ipod control on the N3
