AVIC D2 installation with ND-BC1 camera option

I had the unit installed by a professional shop in Montreal Canada on February 3rd, 2007 at JD’s car stereo, who is also a pioneer dealer.

My installer claims the unit might be defective.

The problem is as follows:

Car: VW Jetta 2006 Diesel 1.9L with automatic DSG transmission.

When I turn the key to the accessory position without starting the engine, but put my shift lever in reverse, I see the rear through the camera, when I shift to N or P or D I loose the camera image which is normal.

.

However, as soon as I start the engine, and then shift to reverse, I do not see the rear view through the camera? I shift back and forth to reverse, but no image. The only way I can see the image is by choosing rear view in the navigation screen then the camera is always on rear view no matter where I put the shifter.

It is as if the boot process is interrupted. The unit begins to boot when I turn the key through accessories, and it re-boots when the engine starts.

Is this a software issue?

Your input is appreciated!

PS

I bought the equipment from a US reseller on Ebay. I am unable to contact :( the Pioneer service department. The 800 number doesn't work from Canada, and no other number is listed.

Pioneer Canada won't service the unit since it was bought in the US!

Or so the dealer says!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Make sure the reverse input on the avic is hooked up to true reverse. You can also test the avic by manually jumping +12volts to the reverse input wire. If it always switches properly then it's an issuse with the reverse wire in the car.

My installer checked that first, made sure to use a multi meter as well to ensure that it was a true 12V signal.

But thanks anyway.
