Hardware:

AVIC-Z1

BT module

iPod

All works well until I got the XM module. I activated the unit including traffic.

I installed the module; it came with two cables plus power and antenna. The only cable I was able to hook up was the "DATA" cable; the other blue/black would not fit in the head unit, both ends where female.

So I fire up the unit and try as may, no XM. On the XM power screen it shows the signal strength (good) unit number. I get traffic, stock market, but that’s about it.

What am I missing :?::?:

You need to plug in both cables. You connected the IP Data cable correctly it seems, but you have to hook up the other wire which is the IP Bus cable. it definitely will fit, you might not be lining the plugs up the right way.

also make sure the blue end is plugged into the back of the z1 and the black end is plugged into the black port of the xm tuner.

I think I will add a zipper to this unit.

I had another look, there is no place for this wire on the head unit. The cable has a square plug and the only one left on the unit is square with a corner cut off. According to the book, the TV gets plugged in there.

The only place that I can see, is the iPod module to be used as a feed through.

the IP Bus cables get daisy chained, for example Bluetooth>Ipod>XM Tuner>AVIC brain
