Hi All,
I finally had my backup camera installed on my 03 Yukon. I'm not too sure what brand was installed but am pretty disappointed with the quality of the camera.
My first backup camera experience was from my 06 Lexus IS250 and the quality on that is pretty good.
Are there any cameras out there that will produce great video quality or will the picture quality depend on my d-2 unit?
I was thinking of something like this.

looks like a pretty flimsy piece of plastic. do a search there is a member of this forum selling a higher quality metal frame camera that will attach to your license plate.

Mine is the bar frame one.
I am more than happy with the image, and although not designed specifically for night use, I can get a pretty good b&w image at night and my reverse lights do good enough job to illuminate what is behind me. I am very happy with mine and if installing on another vehicle, I will get another one of these platecams.
What about smaller hideaway style cameras? For those of us who dont want one mounted on our plate.

question, how does back up camera work if i drive a manual transmission car? supposely for automatic, the avic will switch to camera mode when going to reverse gear, how is it going to recognize that if i drive manual car?
The same way the reverse lights come on, in a manual trans car.
So I ended getting the Boyo camera installed. Picture quality during the day and night are awesome. Almost as good as the factory installed backup camera on my Lexus IS250.
I just got it installed a few weeks ago and its awesome, bit pricey tho but I dont think I would be happy with anything else.
Will try to get some pictures tomorrow. later for now...
