Antenna Wire Routing Question

Can someone explain how to route the antenna wire from the inside under the dash to outside of the vehicle (in my case a 2007 Sequoia) so I can place the Z1 Nav antenna on the roof, center, right above the front windshield?

My understanding is that once the cable is outside, I tuck it under the rubber seal, however, if I do this, won't the windshield leak at the top where the cable exits the rubber gasket/seal?

Thanks for the help!

Well it shouldn't leak. The windshield glass is "glued" to the car's frame with a goop which should keep it from leaking. The rubber gasket material is more for looks than for water.

In the "old days" cars didn't have these and they were chrome strips that snapped around the window and had pretty much no water prevention at all. There is a possibility that the weatherstrip around the windshield keeps water from getting close to the windshield, and yes you will be giving water the ability to get into that channel around next to the window, but the window should be sealed to the car's body where even if water did find it's way in there it shouldn't leak into the car.

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know how to route the cable from inside to outside?

Thanks.

I took mine behind the glove box, down to the floor behind the right kick pannel, out the passenger door under the door sill and then up the gasket on the outside of the gasket, put a couple holders behind the door hinges (about the height of the headlights, tucked it up though the split between the A pillar and the front right fender and then tucked it under the rubber gasket of the windshield and brought it out at the top. I suppose you could go right through the firewall, but I hate doing that and the rubber door gasket on my lincoln stops under the door sill.

On bmw 3 series, there was a smalll hole (w/rubber gasket), behind the glovebox, that went into the engine bay. I used that hole to wire a sirius antenna through. Then I ran it under the hood, up the frame and onto the roof.
