Hey gentlemen...first post here. Just bought a Z1 and I'm looking at installing it myself. I've got moderate experience installing systems (amps, subs, head units) but have never installed a nav system. I would also be wiring the post 07/06 bypass, an p5700tv tuner, and an IPOD adapter. The install shop I spoke to said this was a complicated install and that kind of had me concerned. Soooooo, my questions are as follows:

Is it really that complicated? I have the wiring diagrams for my vehicle and should be able to find a harness no problem. Hopefully trim kit for a good clean look?

Is there anything in particular I should know about installing nav systems? (antenna placement, etc...)

Will the additional components plug in easily and then I just need to find a good place to mount them?

And finally, does anyone own a recent model f-250 crew cab with a Z1, or perhaps have performed an install on one? Any vehicle specific issues I should be aware of?

I've read the posts here extensively and the folks who frequent this site are genuine and helpful. You guys are awesome. As a new Z1 owner, I look forward to contributing any way I can. For now, any help/advice on the above issues would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Congratulations, you have a very EASY truck to work on. There's no less than a dozen people here with pretty much the exact same vehicle. So feel free ask away. Vss and reverse have been posted for your truck in the wiring section, it's the same as any 05+ super duty. The double din dash kit for your truck is 95-5812. There's plenty of room in the dash to put the extra modules.

I enjoy doing the work myself so this ought to be a hoot. I'll get that dash kit you mentioned and check out the VSS & reverse wire again (I read that one...good info). Also going to do the blue tooth and the SWI-PS steering wheel adapter (I like my buttons, ya know??). I read about the echo issues and possible fixes for the bluetooth, but what about the SWI-PS? Anyone have anything good/bad to say about them?

Thanks again!

They work great. Just make sure you read the directions a couple of times.

now have all components inbound and hopefully arriving on the doorstep within a week. Ordered some stuff from crutchfield and they included a free mastersheet to guide me through dash removal and other steps...cool! Last thing I want to do is ruin a Harley Package dash...

I don't know if the master sheet will tell you this, but I'll give you a tip. The "oh shit" handle on the driver's side A pillar, you'll want to remove before you take out the dash. It'll make it a lot easier to get the dash out of the way.
