Same no option to check firmware, I still don't know what I'm running!!

Who told you to press home+camera?

Theres an article somewhere describing that if your reverse camera screen has these brackets "[   ]" then it a certain software. Cant remember which one it is though. I've looked for 10 mins and cant find it

The only thing that matters is weather you have the latest version. If you don't see the brackets described above you know you don't have the latest version. Also you could just try the newest update. If it starts updating this also is an indication you didn't have the latest version.

Even if you do see the brackets you may not have the latest update (8.30). As vblue says just try to update to 8.30. It will either update or not.

i dont need 8.30 i need the one before it, (which i now know i have!)

im using an iphone4s and 8.30 is only for iphone5, pioneer said i dont need to update to it?

im just happy knowing im on the latest firmware for my phone, 8.17
