I have a 07 civic Si and i'm interested in getting a D3 for it. Only thing is i'm not into loud music so i only want a new h/u, not amps, speakers, sub or anything like that.

At the same time i want to retain the function of my stock amp and subwoofer. I would hate to go back to 4 flat speakers just running of the radio.

Is it possible to have the D3 work with my stock amp and sub? i talked to some installers (bestbuy/curcuit city) and they are tellimg me, no. One guy told me its possible but that it would burnout my stock amp in a few months.

I hope theres a solution cause if theres not i dont think i'll be getting an aftermarket nav unit cause i enjoy my current sound system and dont want to lose it. I also dont have money or desire for aftermarket amp/subs. Thanks in advance everyone.

thank you for not perpetuating the stereotype. Just be because someone drives a civic, doesnt mean they have to have loud speakers and fart can exhausts.

It's really a shame that big chain retailers employee sales associates that know absolutely nothing about the product they sale, or that people still ask them questions/advice.

They're employed to push product, not help with solutions unless that solution conveniently provides the store with the most amount of sales revenue possible. ie: selling you amps, speakers, wiring, install services, extended warranties, and a new h/u.

With all that being said, yes, of course you can use an aftermarket deck with your stock system; you simply need the proper interface/converter. Several companies offer them, PAC, Peripheral (stinger) and many others. I suggest finding a local retail that knows what they're doing and getting the proper interface/install from them. The guy that told you it would burn out your stock amp over time, go back and kick him right in the nuts for being a complete @!#($* tard.

Thats an amp bypass? i need something that will make the amp work with my head unti. I want the opposite of a bypass.

Well, most aftermarket headunits offer more power than stock amps.

However if you insist, I suppose you could take the signal outputs from your aftermarket headunit, and splice into the signal inputs of your stock amp. Like one of your installers stated, this may damage the stock amp.

I'd bypass it all together.[/img]

You could also grab a cheap set of rcas and cut the ends off. Solder the center wire of the rca to the positive speaker wire on the honda harness. Then solder the sheild of the rca to the negative wire of the rca. Do that for all 4 speakers then plug the rcas into the avic. Congratulations one amp interface. I do this all the time on factory amplified systems.

I wont be doing the install myself being that i dont know crap about radios.

I just need to find out if its possible and in simple terms how to explain it to an installer.

Thanks for the help everyone

update: I called a new installer and they said they can do it. I'm gonna visit them in person to have another talk.

All you have to do is point the installer to this post. They should have a pretty good idea of what I'm talking about as far as cheating with the rcas goes.
