I just got my car back from the shop that installed my Z150 and the rest of my Kaption audio gear and I ttry to plug in a standard USB stick and it will not come up as a source on the unit screen?  any sugggestions?

the light in the USB stick lights up so the connection would appear to be there, but I am very stumped and a little pissed.

also, my radio reception SUCKS! I was expecting crisp clean radis with this HD tuner, but my stock radio hade 20 times the reception of this unit.

Help Please.

KCCO!

Make sure the flash stick is formatted to the right thing.

i had similar issue (with both USB and SD). plug the USB drive into your computer and reformat it to "MS DOS" or similar PC format. even though i'm a "mac guy" and don't own any non-apple computers/OSs, it appears that these head units have a hard time reading anything that's not PC formatted (imagine that). if that doesn't work, try a few other brands/types of USB drives. my experience is that these things are very temperamental and a little trial and error usually does the trick. good luck

If it is a formatting issue, then it must be: FAT 16 or FAT 32.  This applies to both USB and the SDHC/microSDHC cards.

Suprisingly these units don't support exFAT as of yet.  Maybe down the road.  At least that file system is compatible with both MAC and PC and breaks the 4GB file limit but not yet supported on the head units.
