Rear view camera works when i go into reverse, works perfectly, but when I drive and I select the option to see rear view camera while im driving with the map on the side, the space is black....I was just curious if there was a setting I need to flip or is there something I'm missing here.

power for your camera is obviously on the reverse wire then. a switch or putting camera onto acc, would give you viewability anytime the avic is on, of course thats more wear and tear on the camera, which will shorten its operating life span, but I had it running like that for 2 years + with no problems.

i was just in the garage right now messing around with the setup> camera settings but im only able to get the camera to pop up when im in reverse...thats when the camera is showing picture on the whole screen, but when i take it out of reverse when i want to drive with the navi on in its jsut a black box....what switch are you referring to? and or how to i put my camera onto acc?

You have to pyshically change the power connection on the camera. Right now your camera's power supply is wired to the reverse wire. It must be moved to a switched power source. The easiest place to find that would be the red wire on the avic harness.

darn sigh.....more work for me to do bleh....im wondering if its even worth it to go and fix it. Or would there be another easy wire near the rear i can hook it up to with out having to reroute the wire all the way to the headunit?

Wow do I have a bad memory or what. anyway You could go to the wiring for the fuel pump under the back seat. that has power only when the ignition is on. I wouldn't though, it's not really a big deal to rerun a wire.

yea its not really that big of a deal, just that i have to take out a few interior pieces to route it ;p bleh....should be alright though. So im taking the red wire and attaching it to the red wire on the harness of the avic correct?

yup. That'd be the one.

doesnt the power wire go close with the video rca plug? if so, you had to get that to the back of the avic unit anyways, so take it out and make your connection at the back of the avic unit also.

on the N-series the Reverse camera composite lead is on the brain unit, doesn't hook up to the back of the HU. Just fyi

no problem i didnt read or care which avic unit it was, only that the camera connection couldnt be that hard or far away.
