As we all know, there will never be such a solution from pioneer. So, I started this thread to discuss ideas how that could be achieved anyway. My idea is to use VNC to provide a solution similar to the Mirrorlink protocol that newer Appradios support. Some members here seem to have an Ipod touch (even with cracked display) permanently connected to their avic and to the internet via wlan tethering to their Iphone/Android. Now, I am wondering if in such a scenario a VNC client app could be used on the Ipod to control an Iphone 5 or an android phone that runs a VNC server. Could this work? Am I missing something?
The only obvious problem that I can think of is that VNC is too slow for video playback. But this can be done on the ipod. Audio could be connected easily at the line input that is used for the Ipod.
