Came out decent. I need to adjust my bezel around screen as it isn't quite flush with the interior. Minor adjustment though.

Also need to get the rear camera and monitor hooked up but I have been lazy though and just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

Screen looks fine to me

M3 and Z1. My some of my favorites!

Is your carbon fiber dash from AC Schnitzer or is it stock?

BTW, some shots of your M3 would be nice :D

Thanks man. Sweet job on the TSX. Looks identical to a stock navi.

The CF trim is aftermarket. I looked at the ACS stuff and almost choked on the price. So I went a slightly cheaper route. I think it came out just as sharp as the ACS trim kit.

Here are a couple of pics of the hoopty

I like your front lip with strut bar! I agree, I love AC Schnitzer but it is soooooooo.... Expensive!

Gotta love the SMG Tranny with the paddle shifters on the M3! My dream car!

I still love my TSX though :)

was that the $250 bezel from bimmerman?

Posted Feb 28, 2007 · 19:19 UTC#7

only one question...\

What do you do and how do you do that? that car is my dream.....

Posted Feb 28, 2007 · 19:25 UTC#8

dang guys. It is only a M3. Not like its an M5 or something. M3 is very attainable.

Yes, that is the bezel from bimmerman. I had to use my dremel and smooth out/widen out the sides a little, as it just didn't quite fit into it. After hitting it with the dremel and some touch-up paint you cant even tell I modified it.

I am a professional pimp-slapper. For the right price, i'll pimp slap anyone. :P Nah, i just write software. My car is five years old if you can believe it. Just keep it clean and running well, with the ocassional mod here and there. These cars are well within range in the $20K market.

Thanks for the comments! :D

Nice install. Looks very clean. Also love the M5/6 SMG knob.

nice install

Personally, I'd rather have the M3 than the M5 purely from a driver's point of view. The M3 is much lighter and more tossable than the M5, and I have driven both. The M3 is a wonderful driver's car. It's very involving, and the steering is almost telepathic. The M5 hauls much ass, but you can really feel the weight of it. I could never afford an M5 anyway. If I ever come across a nice low mileage 02-04 M3, though. I'd definitely consider selling my Acura.

Sorry for the off topic rant, by the way. LOL The Z1 looks awesome in there. How high have you gotten the side acceleration meters on the vehicle dynamics gauges? :)

Like the M5, but literally its a freaking BOAT. With the proper weight reduction, brake upgrades, stabilizer bars, M3 handling and acceleration is breathtaking! 8)

But we are here about the Z1 anyways

Hope this doesnt turn into Bimmerfest.com or M3forums.com

I just had a Z1 put into my M3 too. Unfortunately, they haven't completely finished on the install yet. They're building the bezel sometime this week (when I can part with it for another day).

Here's a couple (bad) pics I took Saturday morning around 3. I'll have more when they actually finish:

The only thing that scared me when installing my Z1 was modifying the hvac vents.

Posted Mar 13, 2007 · 22:58 UTC#17

Why not just get the bimmerman bezel? :?:

Posted Mar 14, 2007 · 00:20 UTC#18

I used the bimmerman bezel. I had to cut the vents though in order to fit the radio

Posted Mar 14, 2007 · 18:57 UTC#19

Unfortunately there is no way to install an Avic Z1 or Z2 without modifying the vents in one way or another.

I opened up the vents and sealed them off allowing as much airflow as I could possibly get. Since those vents feed the feet/floor vents. Here in Phx, this isn't such a large issue of low airflow as it is for those in colder areas, where blowing hot air in the winter is key.

I got the bezel from here: http://mybimmer.net )

Instructions can be found here: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=359575

Granted that is not an Avic unit, but it is a double-din unit none the less. I followed that post as my guide when I did my install.

Hope that helps the guys thinking about doing it.
