Just picked one up. Installing on Sunday. Kind of unclear what exactly I need to get my 5s to work in app mode. Do I really need the HDMI cable, plus the lightning to digital AV adapter plus another lightning cable? That seems a bit excessive.

I lightning cable, hdmi cable and lighting to digital av adapter is what you need.

I've run my HDMI cable, but i hate app mode.. i just use the lightning cable for iPod mode and blutooth for calls/siri and such. I'm personally waiting for CarPlay. AppMode kinda sucks IMHO

CarPlay is what spurred my purchase, and honestly, it's obnoxious that I need $100 in cables for things to be compatible.

you need an original apple charger $19.99 (or free when you purchase the phone). Apple Lightning Digital AV Adapter $49.00, and a $3.00 HDMI cable from amazon. Its either $72 purchasing all these items or $52 for just the cable and adapter. But either way its good to have. APP RADIO sucks. Dont see my self using it either
