Be Aware Pioneer marks up their MSRP!

While a price thread is helpful, I am wondering why the quoted part is news. What is news is that Pioneer doesn't seem to enforcing MSRP on retailers or enforcing a MAP. Those margins were/are meant for B&M retailers to cover sales labor and owning/leasing a physical presence. Of course, the era of internet mail order throws a wrench in all that, but so long as we still have B&M stores, MSRP margins will remain at those levels. Especially for "luxury" goods like these head units.

1129. Website I went to had it for $929. They made a price error and honored the price. Now it's for 1399

Note that the "S" in MSRP means "suggested."  Unless Pioneer has an agreement with their resellers to the contrary, they're free to sell the product for whatever price they can find agreeable buyers and provides a satisfactory profit.

authorized price is $1399  ... if you buy it cheaper, its from an unauthorized dealer and warranty gets voided normally.... its all documented all over internet.. its quite the norm for a lot of electronics like this.   this keeps the price stable for all authorized sellers and why OEM only supports warranty if bought from them....

I got mine for $920 shipped on ebay....   so to get warranty, I bought from squaretrade

the link you posted is from a seller who declined all my offers which they are below my last offer now. I sent them a message and got no response. that is usually a sign of a bad seller. you can pm me if you don't want to post a public link.

Got my 8000nex for $1000 thru amazon.com.... Went to my installer and he wanted to sell me one for $1400 installed. He was kinda upset when I showed up to his shop with one already in hand and told him how much it cost me. Moral to the story: always shop around....

Off topic but there are no authorized dealers on eBay. If your receipt says anything about eBay Pioneer will deny warranty coverage.
