Anyone else find that the AVIC-8000NEX takes too long to display the rear view camera when it is powered up? I count a good 15 seconds after I start my car before I see the camera show up on the display. This is too slow, my old Z120BT was faster.
Slow Reverse Camera Display
You got me curious so I checked.
Mine is instant. As soon as I start the car I
put it in reverse and rear view is there.
Sigh..... I wonder why mine is sluggish. I put my car into reverse immediately after starting.
Mines start up as soon as you turn the car on and out it in reverse. But if you wait to let the radio boot up it takes me about 2-3 seconds. First the parking guides come on first then the image.
Instant here also. Even if I put the car in reverse while the radio is still booting up, it displays the video.
Mine takes a second or 2 when the radio is first booting up, but instant every other time.
Ok, after a closer look it isn't the reverse camera that is slow, its the deck itself that is slow to power up. When I start my car, it takes about 10 seconds for the front panel buttons on the deck to illuminate, after which I see the Pioneer logo and my reverse cam shows up a few seconds later. I have a Sirius XM tuner and a PAC steering wheel remote adaptor attached to the head unit. I wonder if these add ons could be slowing down the boot?
I have the PAC adapter also but not the Sirius tuner. My system is quick to boot up and my back up camera will come on as soon as I put into reverse. Although the image seems to be a a little sluggish but not enough to be concerned about

I have the Maestro SW module for my steering wheel controls and I have the xm tuner as well. Should not cause your radio to take 10 seconds to begin the booting process.
As to the "sluggish" reverse video comment... do you have the grid lines turned on while in reverse? If so, turn them off and see if the video is still sluggish. If I turn off the reverse grid, my video is normal. But like you said, it's not enough to worry about and I prefer the grid lines so I just deal with it.
I don't have the parking assistant guide enabled. This is odd, what the heck is causing mine to take forever to light up and boot? I may have to make a YouTube video and post it so you guys don't think I'm BS'ing.

no one thinks you're BSing. I think that if something is wrong with your radio, you should return it for a new one.
I get it instantly during boot up, but after its booted if i put it in reverse I get a black screen for about 3-5 seconds before the cam video pops up. Kinda annoying.
Check the trigger on your interface, maybe it's late
I turned the grid lines off. I used the existing camera that was installed with my Z2. The camera is just old which could be the issue. It worked and I didn't see enough issue to replace it. Unless there is some wide angle HD camera which I'd hate to hear about $$$$$
It wont be HD while using RCA signal I think. But it still works fine
8200nex + aftermarket backup camera (~15 bucks)
Backup image comes up NOT instant but 1~2 seconds after switch to reverse gear.
