How do you get the APPS shortcut on the home screen to work?  Shouldn't I be able to access the APPS shortcut on my home screen if i have a phone connected via usb?  When i connect my iphone to my usb cable i can access aha and pandora but the APPS shortcut on my home screen doesn't work... Am i missing something here?

You cant use apps via USB cable. You will need the HDMI cable and apple digital AV to lightning adapter for iphone or MHL cable for android device and switch the phone setup to ADAPTER instead of USB

thanks for the reply... i read the manual and saw i needed the hdmi and lightening cable.  anyone have issues with WAZE on APPS?

WAZE works fine but make sure to give permission on the settings on the ways app. I think it will ask you automatically to set it up
