I've been trying for several days now to purchase an AVIC 8000NEX, but I just can't seem to get it done. I first tried to order one online at cartoys.com, but my credit card was declined. About an hour later I got a text message from Citibank asking me if I had tried to make a purchase at cartoys.com; apparently my purchase triggered their fraud detection algorithm and they declined the charge. Does this mean cartoys.com gets a lot of business from stolen credit cards?

Having failed online, I tried to buy one from a local shop. I submitted a request on theri web site, and the manager emailed me back saying they were in stock and quoting the price. Some 90 minutes later when I arrived at the shop, I was told that they only had one and it was now being installed in someone's car. Once again I walked away empty-handed.

If there is a God, I guess he really doesn't want me to buy this head unit!

Have you tried ebay or Amazon? I got my AVIC-6000NEX on ebay, installed a few days ago so far no issues.

I may end up going that route, but I was hoping to buy from an authorized dealer and have a warranty on the unit.

Get the Square trade warrenty from ebay, Its worth it in the long run

no it doesnt mean that place deals with stolen credit cards a lot. it means you made a purchase that was not normal for your spending habits. i work for a trucking company and when they buy new tractors the will fly me to where ever they are to drive it back. when ever i do this i have to call my bank and let them know im traveling and to not freeze my card over irregular transactions. the first time i bought $400 bucks in fuel in one state and when i tried to get another $400 in another state they froze my card. i was stuck there all night untill i could speak to sombody at the bank in the morning.

I would imagine that buying a $1400 car stereo is not normal for anyone's spending habits.

I was going to drop the 1400. but  it doesn't hurt to save a lil money

I successfully thwarted the will of the gods. My local shop got more units in stock and this time I was able to snag one. Didn't have the wiring harness so my install will have to wait, but at least I got the unit.
