I believe the new NEX series of Pioneer head units now supports Flac playback. Anyone have an idea of how this capability may be added to the Z series?
Thanks,
Will

Directly? I don't think it can be done.
I run a Nexus 7 with a USB DAC plugged into the Z150's aux input and use Poweramp as the media player. With that combination, I can play just about any music file.
The downside is that I can't control the Nexus through the steering wheel controls. The upside is that I have current nav data with far superior nav program options.
It should be technically feasable. The Flac decoder is a single .exe file so the only challenge is how to tell the OS to run it for Flac files.

True.
But when the new NEX units came out, Pioneer forgot they made older units. They haven't made a habit of adding new features to discontinued units.
