I upgraded from a AVIC 700bt to the new hex-5000.   App mode doesn't really interest me so I figured that videos would still work with the component connection to the iPhone 5.

I've been able to get audio to work while in av mode but no video.  How do I get that to work?  Its as if the unit doesn't recognize the video input.  

Suggestions?  

You are going to need the same cables/adapters for video thats needed for App Mode.

Then what is the point of the video input?  Lame.  

It's for i4/4s and other video sources. If you have an i5 you have to use the i5 adapter setup.
