Remote that works with 8000?

I'd like to get a remote for the 8000.  Are there any remotes being sold by Pioneer that will work?

Thanks,

Remote is optional with the 8000 which means it has the ir sensor on it. The 4000 comes with a remote. I assume it works for the 8000 as well.

I dont see where it states there is an optional remote? Wired remote input is not the same thing. So glad I got the 4000 I can always add nav if I want and came with the remote and removable full front face. Also watched a video the 8000 and boot time and source selection times look identical maybe faster with the 4k

Really, you have a 4000, we wouldn't have guessed...

Where did you see that stated?

You know I could have sworn I saw it as an option in the specs for the 8000. It isn't there. My mistake.

Anybody had a chance to try either the CD-SR100 or CD-SR11?  Would love to get one if they do!

Thanks,

Do you have steering wheel controls?

Posted Jun 17, 2014 · 21:53 UTC#11

nope! Rockin old school (2001) here. :)  Guess I'll just have to move the ol arm off the steering wheel and touch it, like people used to do.  Life is so hard! ;)

Could have got the 4k and avic u260 and had it all

Lol, true! I'll survive. :)

But you don't "have it all" do you?

You don't have a much brighter multi-touch capacitive screen do you? You won't have the ability to use AVIC-SYNC for live weather / fuel prices / traffic info. The 4k with a u260 add on is not the same as an 8k, not by a long way.

Agree, 8000 for the win

The capacitive screen I give you. However all that avic sync stuff doesn't exist until pioneer finally releases it which based on how much the feature is not mentioned on the website is never, and I get a better working version of it through waze anyways with better maps.

Removable face, remote,  nav if you want it so everything but the capacitive screen and if the nav stops working its $300 replacement not $1200

Posted Jun 22, 2014 · 18:28 UTC#18

If the Nav stops working it'll be going back to Pioneer under warranty. Why do I need a remote, I can reach the screen quite easily, isn't that the point of a touchscreen, to get rid of buttons? Removable face is the only thing that made me consider it, but after seeing them side by side the quality of the screen on 8000 won it for me.

Both have the same screen resolution! Is your volume located on the touch screen? How is a remote adding buttons? They are both great, its the audio I was most interested in,  Not the screen really. I think the 4k in the best non nav av head unit out not.

The screen may be the same resolution but the clarity of the capacititive screen stood out in brightness and colour depth to me, also the actual "feel" of the screen when swiping (being glass) felt smoother.

As for the remote thing, maybe I just don't get it, I can't see how it can be safe to be fumbling around with a remote when driving. I have steering wheel controls for track / station change and volume / mute. Everything else is touchscreen.

Pioneer's CD-SR100 and CD-SR11 attach to the steering wheel... but neither overview states compatibility with the 8000.  Handy for vehicles with no OEM controls.

Pac makes an external ir sensor that connects to the steering wheel control input, I have it on my Z130 and it works fine with the Pioneer remote control, I imagine it would also work with these radio's
