I know this has been beat up in the past, but I'm gonna bring it up again.

I had the Z130t now I have the 8000. Have there been any inprovements, findings of any better microphones? I am using the same microphone I had with the Z130 and it sucks pretty bad.

People I talk to say i sound great on my mic, im using the one from the 8000, when used the one from my z2'people complained about my sound

im using my old microphone from my prev radio and people say i sound great

With mine people say it sounds like I have the windows down.

Where is everybody mounting theirs? I have mine mounted above the rear view mirror.

I have mine mounted at my speedometer

mines on the sun visor i even make calls with the top down and people can here me crystal clear

my mic came from a pioneer deh-6400bt or something like that if it matters

Moved my mic right infront of the speedometer.

Did a test call to my office phone while driving. Said a few sentences, then put a piece of foam, that I made that fit over the mic itself. Said a few sentences.

Made a call to someone. They told me to take it off of speaker that it sounded like I was in a tube.

Got back to office and listened to my voicemail. Yep sounds like I'm in a tube with windows down.

I'm using the microphone that came with the 8000 and I've received reports that the SQ is very good - slightly better than the OEM Bluetooth in my Passat. It's mounted just to the right of the driver's side visor, clipped to the headliner.

I tried that area too. It was worse.

maybe it's the phone that's the problem.....

I'm using the stock microphone that came with my 4000NEX.....I have it mounted right above the rear view mirror (center light console).  The call quality is very clear and anyone in the car can speak to it and works like a charm.

That's exactly where I just moved mine from. Quality is the same. Bad

There's got to be something else going on, then (perhaps what jwq suggests). Seriously, my mom called me once when I was in the car with the kids and she could hear them clearly, and they were both in the back seat.

it was/is the same with the z1/z2/z3, worked well with some phones, not so great with others....

Yeah, I had the Z130 before and it was the same thing, BUT, I had a different phone.

Is anyone using an aftermarket mic and had good results?
