Just installed a AVIC-D3 in my 01 Porsche 996TT, don't know where to find VSS wire.
The D3 works the same without this wire connected. In case you don't feel like hacking your car's harness.
Speed Sense gray/pink alarm/door lock module
Notes: The alarm/door lock module is under the driver seat.
