1) when the updated AVICSYNC is released end of the year would it work on Android phones?

2) I am assuming the protocol is wireless and doesn't need a cable hooked up to the unit to get it working?

I have a 5000.

I'm assuming AvicSync information is retrieved through the internet.  With these HU's not having any direct connection to internet I have to assume it occurs through any supported smartphone without additional hardware.  Whether transferred through USB or bluetooth is anybodies guess at present.
