New firmware available for all NEX, idatalink firmware
Firmware 1.08 available on pioneer
looks like they were waiting for ios 8.1 to be released. I downloaded already but have not updated firmware yet.
Updated
And????
How's it working?
Please tell me it fixes the audio pop!
does it work with Maestro RR??
10 second test...
Neither the iOS 8.1 or the new Pioneer firmware fixed my issue with not being able to access a group of playlists stored in a folder.
A more extensive test in about 30 minutes on my drive home.
Pioneer needs to pay better attention to this. I downloaded the update for the 8000 and the zip file had the folder for the 5000. I don't think I want to try it.

If you refer to the firmware download instructions it states that once the file is unzipped it will say 5000nex but it is indeed for the 8000. Youll be fine!!
Pioneer mentioned this in the comments of a post on their facebook page. The folder has to be labeled this way for all NEX models to find the update on the drive. Don't ask me why.
Thanks. Didn't read the document due to having already done this with the Apple update the day that came out. I guess I didn't notice it may have also been labeled 5000 instead of 8000 after unzipping that as well.
I detest liars.
Pioneer claimed there was "no problem able to be reproduced" with the resume not working for up to a full driving DAY with 1.06 on a large external USB device (e.g. SSD full of media.) Well, they obviously reproduced something and fixed it, because 1.08 takes about 5 minutes to read my 120GB SSD on the first boot, doesn't play anything until it has finished, but once it does finish it picks up exactly where it left off immediately and thereafter.
In other words, the "no problem found" was a lie -- they not only found the problem I reamed them on they fixed it.
I'm happy it's fixed.
I'm more than somewhat pissed that they didn't own up to breaking it in the first place.
PS: Sort order on tag lookup is still broken at the song (after drilling to an album) level, and is probably broken at the file level (if your disk directory itself is not sorted.)

I wouldn't go as far as calling them liars. They probably couldn't reproduce the supposed issue. Maybe they tweaked something else and it just happened to fix it? Anyway, I am glad that pioneer is actually updating the units still. I figured once the CarPlay update was pushed, we'd becer see another. Hope they continue to improve.
Does this fix the spotify issue with blinking thumbnails and music not playing?
I thought it did, for a while. Spotify worked great for me for most of yesterday. Today, however, it was back to crashing constantly. Oh, well....
I'm downloading the update now and will try it later.. Right now, when I try to play any music from Spotify the thumbnails blink on and off and if I select a song, instead of playing what I selected it starts playing the last song I played stored on my phone (iPod function) instead.. Seems more like a Carplay bug than a Spotify issue.. They made us wait this long for this buggy horrible product, I wonder what the delay was since it clearly wasn't QA.
Can anybody else confirm that the USB audio/video playback is fixed?

Seems as though it fixed it. No more popping either. Only annoying thing so far is that you have to reset all of you navi settings.
Thank for the 1.08 update.
Sadly, looks like any firmware update will be somewhat *destructive* in that it does destroy Nav settings, pinpoints, etc and you need to start from scratch each time. Bearing 1.06 did this and now this one, I suspect all FW updates will do just the same.
Does this update now allow digital controls to the Maestro RR? So I can use Uconnect and have fader controls back?

I have asked this same question on the Maestro forum. Right now, my 8000NEX is connected to the Meastro RR through the analog 1/8" cable. A am assuming that after I flash the RR I will be able to hook up the digital cable and remove the analog one. I am waiting on a answer before I open up the dash.
Wish they would allow Bluetooth and USB, not one or the other. For short drives, I like to use the built in Pandora App via Bluetooth, and then plug in and use CarPlay on longer trips. I hate having to switch between the two.
I know, first world problems and all, but still.
