What color is the illumination wire for a 2004 honda civic ? AND
were is it located?
Do i need to tap into it? like all the others? (speed, reverse )

Just use the wiring harness.

VSS is blue in the main harness. right in the middle.

Oh ok , I didn't know that...Makes perfect sense though.......
Is the bypass for the D3 going to mess up the muting option???
will the unit still mute the music while telling me directions through the voice feature?

wow every1 asks this question! now i know how you avic veterans feel!
your pioneer bluetooth module (btb100 or btb200) will still mute the music!
its if you add another brand for example parrot then the mute needs to be hooked up

Im a newbie so i dont know jack about sh*t when it comes to installing my D3 coming in the mail. Do i have to use the harness that you you buy or do you use it to make the installation easier. Any other information will help as well. I am having second thoughts on installling this device myself, because it is very intimidating. by the way i know this was supposed to be about civic's but i got a 2002 Honda Accord EX V6

Wire up avic.
Put avic in car.
Drive to the liquor store with the new navi system.
Buy beer.
Drive home.
