Does the Z1 monitor your vehicles performance? if so, can someone explain how it works in detail a little... thank you!

You can see your speed, acceleration (g's), incline, etc.....most info is gathered from the gyro sensor/accelerometer in the unit....

Ok, so it doesnt track like 0-60 or 1/4 mile time... or is that the d3

Not that I know of....

I don't think the d3 does that either..

No it doesnt do that. If you want stuff like taht try their additional car attachment. Sells for 300 or something. Not worth it in my opinion

What attachment is that??

i have installed vss and every other wire i know to, and the accelerometer nor the spedometer work... i know not what to do.

Posted Jan 20, 2009 · 07:38 UTC#9

Give it time to calibrate

Posted Jan 20, 2009 · 07:50 UTC#10

it has had time, i have actually had my z1 installed over a year, it has never worked properly.... actually though, the compass, and battery voltage both work, just not the actual spedo, and other functions

Posted Jan 20, 2009 · 22:16 UTC#11

are you sure you have the VSS wire correct? I have done quite a few cars that had no VSS and the speedo never worked without it. I would double check it just to be sure.

Those are done by accelerometers and not the VSS... I had my Avic in my older truck with no VSS, and it worked like a champ...

Have you tried the recalibrate option, then give it time(which only should take a couple of miles and a couple of turns)... In vehicle dynamics mode hit the acceleration screen then select re-calibrate, erase data or whatever it is..

Otherwie, I'd say your Avic is broke...

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 02:28 UTC#13

thanks ill try that. we shall see.

Posted Jan 21, 2009 · 16:45 UTC#14

i dont see where to recallibrate. any help?

Ooopps... yeah... I just went and checked mine, and it wasn't there...

You probably have to reset the Avic to get the option...

I just did it the other night when I finally got everything hooked back up in my new truck.... I noticed that the acceration meter was not zero'ed out... so I pressed the acc meter and there was an option to recalibrate.... afterwards, there was an "unavailable" messege until I drove about 1.5 miles and made a couple of turns...

They have/had this toy :) :

But it's not compatible with the Z series...

They had that in the US. Still no 1/4 mile times or 0-60 like the OP seems to be looking for

No, however, you can get a graph of speed vs time, ie acceleration times 0-60 etc...

However, if you're really interested in performance figures, you're probably better of with something like this :P

oh ok... i was hoping it would be something where you could add senders and get information like oil pressure, water temp, oil tmp, etc.... all on the screen. Now that would be friggin awesome.

Thi has ODBII interface that would ideal for some of that stuff... You could probably even custom tune your rig right from your dash...

Yeah, you can get OBDII scanners with video output....

What you can display will of course depend on what is available on your car's OBD port, and you will not be able to control the OBD scanner from your Z, but will need to use a separate remote...Z would only be a (video) display...
