i have my Z1 installed and im having a problem with the reverse camera input. ive searched and saw that a couple of you have had the same issue, were the screen is real dark and split horizontaly. dont want to have to exchange it. but figured i would ask first. thank you!

the 'fix' is to get an proper camera for the setup, like a ntsc camera and not a pal, or a working camera and not one that is clearly a problem. The avic unit merely displays the video given, so the problem is likely the camera itself, not the avic, and not the avic that needs fixing.

To test if the problem lies in the avic or the camera, here's what you can do. Grab a short rca cable. Plug one end into the monitor output, and the other end into the rear camera input. throw a dvd in and start playing it. Shift the vehicle into reverse. Is the picture showing up properly? If so then there a problem with the camera. If the picture is still bad then it's a problem with the avic.

Ya i tested the "reverse" input and it is bad. thats why i asked if there was a fix.. it doesnt matter what source i run through the reverse input i get the same dark/split picture. but i plug my camera into the aux input and picture is perfect.

the fix would be to send it in for repair.

Ok, Im ready to rip my hair out!! I got my Z1 replaced, had all the wiring double checked. and same problem. The Reverse camera is still showing same picture really dark with most details showing in purple tones, and the screen is split down the middle horizontaly. i plug the camera input into my Aux video and the picture is perfect. i plug a video input into the reverse input and i get same screwed up picture. Im losing my mind is it possible i got 2 messed up units?? or is there something else i should check?? thanks

Were they both dec 06 units? mine has gone bad twice. My dealer is going to exchange it for a z2 when they come in.

the first one was a 5/06 and the second is a 6/06
