Can you use the AVIC-Z1 "AV Input" as Audio Only

I like this unit, and may have a need for an Audio IN feature. Without buying a IP-Bus RCA adapter, can you use the AV Input, and just connect the Audio for L+R Audio input?

I cannot find anything conclusive in the owners manual about that configuration.

Anyone tried this?

AVIC-Z1 Ordered, and in transit, so I have no means of testing this my self.

Yes it can be used as an audio only input, the unit doesn't care nor know if the video cable is hooked up or not, it will simply input whatever is attached, ie audio only.

I don't know if the Z1 will be the same but when I did the audio input through the AV input on my N2 the sound was extremely crappy. To be more specific, it sounded a bit worst than FM radio. Let me know what you find out. I don't have use for it now but maybe in the future. I had a friend what had the IP-Bus adapter hooked up to one of the 2003 DEH-P models for his iPod and it sounded way better than his iPod hooked up to the AV input of my N2.
