OK I'm new at this so don't mock my questions please. I'm very mechanical so I should have no problem once I get some Q's answered.

I have an 2003 Mercury Mountaineer with the Premium Sound System (includes a sub and I think rear controls)

I had an old ford harness my Buddy gave me that he used in his 02 explorer all wired up and ready to go when we pulled off the dash and head unit out to find that I needed a 3 wire harness for the premium sound system... dam it...

Now have the correct harness and started to wire it up then saw that there are now way more wires on the harness then what are coming from the D3 harness. Now most of them are the same color(s)...

Do I just wire all the some colors together?

Do I have the right harness (bought at best buy car listed on package)?

The harness has no RC plugs where do I plug the sub RC from the D3 to?

Do I just need to get in professionally done?

Any and all help appreciated. If pictures are needs let me know and give me a day to get them posted.

You need the amp integration harness from metra. And you need a 3K ohm resistor on the trigger wire to avoid the on/off thump.Done it a hundred times

I beleive the part number for the harness is 70-5519.

Misfit:

You use a 3k? Really I've never been able to get it to turn on with anything higher than a 2.4k

yeah, its a 5519 if you have the old style black plug, and a 5521 if its the new style grey plug.

And yes, i've always used a 3k on all fords, mostly using eclipse avn units, but some pioneers too, never had a problem, 3k was the lowest i could get to eliminate the pop

Thanks for the Advise but the harness you mention is for a 2000-01 vehicle will this still be good for my 2003.

The Harness they gave me from BB was the Metra 70-5700

03 is a cutoff year, so it could go either way. Again, black plug 5519 , grey plug 5521, 5700 will work too if you have the black plug, looks like its a replcement for the 5519

Sorta te 5700 doesn't ave the rcas on the sub harness. So you'll have to solder those on yourself. I kinda miss that harness now that I'm at CC.

See now your getting into soldering its looking more and more like I need this professionally done
