i guess i will start with a weird occurence. i grounded the parking brake with the d3 into the ground on the wire harness with a switch in the middle of the ebrake wire so i could make the message "cant view while driving" appear if i got stopeed by the cops. i moved the yellow/black wire onto the spot above "mute" on the secondardy harness but i DID NOT ground that to anything.

the bypass was working great for about 300 km maybe more. then all of a sudden it came up and said there was a problem with the wire for the ebrake. i slow down to under 20 km/h and my buttons enable, i go faster than 20 they disable. i checked the gound its fine.... so i moved the ebrake ground off of the harness and against the metal behind the dask and guess what it works great.

my question is, is it possible that after so long the d3 picks up that the ebrake is wire is grounded in with the rest of the harness? and why did the bypass still work even though i didnt ground that yellow and black wire?

another question, has anyone been able to locate and confirm the place for the VSS on 07 mustang? i read it is in the radio harness, but some are saying that does not work as its a digital signal for 07, not a pulse. and as for the blue/yellow wire under the hood, people say that does not work either.

third thing. i have the shaker 500 hundred system. originally i had a once piece wiring harness and my subs didnt work, reading here i found out why. now i have the extra piece with the rca plugs. so i take the rca plug and put them into "sub-woofer" on my d3 harness?? then there are two blue/white wires? do they go together? and i plug them into the blue "remote wire" from the d3 harness? or my red acc wire??

please no flames, i have searched and read this forum just some things are still unclear as well, most stuff for 07 seems like its different from 06

i appreciate any advice/help anyone can offer me.

thank you.

Ummm... I'm sure I can't help you with this, since I don't own a D3, but wouldn't this post have been better in the D3 section? :?

dk. blue/yellow ac PCM, top plug, pin 3

Notes: The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is in the front passenger side of the engine compartment. thins is the info i found on that car, hope it helps you find your vss wire

the rca plug goes to the sub output, the other end plugs into the small harnes behind your radio, you usually only need one of those blue wires, when you plug it in see which one lines up with another wire, the other one is probably dead. connect the usable one to the amp remote out of your radio, and put a 3k ohm reistor inline.

Dont have a D3, but I do have a GT (2005). VSS changed from a pulsed voltage to a digital signal in 05 I think...have to tap the blue/yellow wire on the top connector of the PCM (under the hood). As for the Amp, connect the RCA jacks from the adaptor to the SUB OUT of the D3 and the SYS REMOTE wire from the D3 to the blue wire of the adaptor ( I just twisted them both togeher and soldered them to the SYS REMOTE from the Head Unit). You will probably also need Ducatis (0r your own) 5V regulator inline with the blue wire in order to keep the amp from "popping" when you turn it on.

i cant get the fm antenna to fit in the back of the d3, is there an adapter barb like you have to use on the newer chevy trucks i wonder? there is a plastic ring on the end, was that supposed to stay in the factory radio perhaps??

also does anyone know of a way you can back up the nav dvds to a single layer dvd, like cut out the maps for the usa since i dont need them??

i dont have access to a dual layer burner so i cant make a 1:1 copy

it takes a chrysler antenna adaptor, metra 40-cr-10, and yes you leave the plastic on

Posted Mar 13, 2007 · 21:55 UTC#8

You shouldn't need any adaptor for the antenna.....Ford uses the standard antenna plug....

Not true a lot of new fords are using the chrysler antenna now. Then there's the older fords with outboard tuners that use the 40-fd10.

Unless they changed it from the 05 (Mine) to 07 (His) (Entirely Possible I suppose) he doesn't need any adaptor.

so i tried that wire for the speed sensor, sure enough it was the right one, the only thing is now the bypass does not work. if i unhook the speed pulse, the bypass works, so is it safe to assume the safety kicks out the video by speed as well as that ebrake wire?

this is really pissing me off.

on the plus side, i took care of the speaker pop, after searching everywhere in this town and the ones around it for that 5v regulator. small towns suck! lol

You've got something wrong with your bypass then.

Posted Mar 13, 2007 · 23:23 UTC#13

yes he does need the adaptor, you obviously have only worked on your own car, all the new style(06) and up ford radios need the chrysler adaptor

if you did the bypass correctly, the speed sense should not affect the bypass

to be my usual picky, smartass self, I've done quite a few trucks that didn't need adapters. All I have to say to that is Fu&kin Ford why can't you make up your damn mind.

Posted Mar 13, 2007 · 23:44 UTC#15

yeah, some pickups depending on trim, but all cars with new style radios need them

Posted Mar 13, 2007 · 23:48 UTC#16

Yeah I really wish I could keep them straight, but you know how it is. Get it in, get it done, and get it out.

yeah, i found out the hard way, went all the way to mannahawkin to pick up a factory 6-disc radio, then all the way to mendham to do the install (if your from jersey you know how far that is) and the F-150 was the first one i saw with a standard antenna end on a new style radio. And changing the end didnt help anyway because the illumination setup was different on both radios. THANKS FORD

Posted Mar 14, 2007 · 00:14 UTC#18

I said it before and I'll say it again. F*ckin Ford!. Btw for the nonjersey peeps that's a little over 100 miles one way.

Posted Mar 14, 2007 · 00:21 UTC#19

yeah, 1 hour to mannahawkin, 2 hours back up to mendham, then an hour home.

i rewired somethings and still the same.

the parking brake ground is on a switch so i can pop up that screen if the cops pull me over.

other than that the d3 is grounded into the harness.

the ground off the voltage reg, the parking brake and that yellow/black wire are grounded to a screw against the chassis. i pulled that yellow wire and pushed it into the pin right above it. as far as i can see it is making contact with that pin on the d3.

i dunno is it possible the d3 is different for canada? or pioneer found out about this trick did something in newer d3s to remove it??

i dunno man im at a loss.

......as for the FM antenna, i did need the adapter which is labeled for dodge 03 and up.

thanks
