Hey all

I can make AVIC-D3 "backup" DVD NAV discs for anyone who might need/want them.

Just thought that I would try to help out those who don't have a dual-layer burner...

I'm not really looking to profit (much) :) but here is what I propose. If you think it's fair and you are interested, just send me an email: [email protected]

1 Dual-Layer DVD NAV disc (West or East) with no fancy stickers or labels on the DVD - just a plain DL DVD with the disc (West or East) of your choice on it - as I often find that the labels cause problems.

$15.00 and this includes USPS Priority Shipping (2-3 day average)

For both discs (West and East) = $20.00

Payment via Paypal or Money order only

Again, I'm just offering this out there for those that are interested. if you have the resources to do it yourself - by all means do just that!

If you don't have the resources and need a backup copy, and you think my proposal is worth it - just let me know. I'm in the Military and I don't have a ton of free time to do this - but I'll do what I can.

Again, email me or PM here on th forum if you are interested.

Mike

have you actually burned a copy yet?

Posted Mar 13, 2007 · 22:57 UTC#3

Yes, I have...

Burned a WEST Coast dvd yesterday - tested all day today - works perfectly

Posted Mar 13, 2007 · 23:02 UTC#4

slick, for the others here, you wanna describe the process? and media used?

thanks

p.s. IM thinking that maybe the new pioneer cares about dvd+r or -r or rom DL

meaning if you burn a disk that is a +r dl for example, and your drive doesnt change the bitsetting to dvd-rom like the pioneer 11* units do, then maybe the pioneer will reject it....

Sure

-Using NERO Burning ROM 7

- New Compilation

- DVD Copy

- Dual Layer Media (8.5GB) (GQ DVD+R DL 2.4X) - The brand name I'm using is "Great Quality" or "GQ" - purchased at Fry's Electronics this past weekend.

Have Fun

No special steps required, just a dl drive and burning software. I used toast 8 and plextor drive with Verbatim +r dl disk. The disk arnt copy protected.

i used imgburn which is free and worked great

Backups are particularly useful with the D3 since you're more likely to swap the map DVD for a movie or music CD. The likelihood of scratches increases over the fixed D1/D2 drives.

I've also successfully burned a copy and can not tell the difference in performance from my burned copy and the original.

so this should help some people (cntrylvr)

also, do you guys know if your drive auto sets bitsetting to dvd-rom or if its still seen as a +r

Posted Mar 14, 2007 · 00:04 UTC#10

my pioneer dvr-111d has bitsettings to dvd-rom by default

Posted Mar 14, 2007 · 00:06 UTC#11

yeah thats what i was figuring, its the other guys that it would be important to know, would clear things up for some of us

Posted Mar 14, 2007 · 02:37 UTC#12

Im not sure with my Plextor, but it worked

Posted Mar 14, 2007 · 03:30 UTC#13

My Plextor PX-740A has a 1 time manual setting. DVD-ROM is the way to go for increased compatibility.

PX-740A here too.

I had no problems making copies of the d3 discs. I had problems making a valid hybrid disc that the d1/2 would recognize.

I think one application called DVDInfoPro is able to change your drive's booktype to DVD-ROM if you need to. That's what I did to make my writer able to burn Xbox 360 backups. Then, I'd probably use CloneCD to make the nav disc backup.

I haven't tried to copy the nav disc for myself yet but I'm certain it would work. Also, I recommend using Verbatim branded DVD+R DL media for best data integrity and performance.

Why don't you make a torrent of it and not charge fellow members for it?

That's not going to help anyone. The d3 discs CAN'T be used in the older units. He's talking about making copies for people who don't have access to a dual layer dvd burner.

These discs wont upgrade the n1/n2/n3? I thought the cndv maps were pretty much generic? My deck came with the 50mp and I used my friends 60mp from his d2 to upgrade mine?

No they won't.
