Anyone left with one of my circuits who could test something

I have a customer who emailed me this:

I installed the bypass and everything worked well, but until

now never went and tried to delete tracks from the library.

Pioneer has informed me that you need to have the e-brake

up in order to delete tracks from the library.

I don't have a circuit in my truck any more, I did the bluetooth update and no have the parking brake on all the time. I was pretty sure I did this with the parking brake off and the flasher doing the bypass. Can anyone verify that it's possible with the parking brake off (or not connected) with just the flashing bypass?

Give me about 10mins....

This is what I emailed him:

I would take what Pioneer says with a grain of salt. They say a lot of things to people and some times it's completely false. They say you need the parking brake on to do this. They also say you need the parking brake on to enter a destination in the nav system or play a dvd, but with the bypass we know that at least most of that is false.

Step 1, make sure the bypass is working. Make sure the parking brake is off and that when you hit:

Menu - settings - hardware- connection status

The parking brake is listed as off. If the brake is listed as on, we have problems.

http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html (there are instructions here too)

Then hit menu (if you get a disclaimer screen, hit ok and then MENU again).

Look for "Address Search" and "POI Search".

See http://www.sminntech.com/images/avicz1menuscreen.jpg

If you see those, you have a bypassed unit. If you don't there is a problem.

If you passed the above tests... go to the library and follow the instructions on page 124. I would be very surprised if the whole system is bypassed except for the ability to delete some tracks from the library. It's possible you found something no one else has before

I just went out and deleted two tracks....no problems...I didn't acutally start the car...just had it in ACC, but the E-brake lead is just hanging out of the harness and not hooked up to anything...

Thanks for checking for me. I really appreciate it. Starting the car shouldn't make any difference and you didn't need to actually delete the track. I'm hoping it was something you wanted to delete anyway right? :)

Oh, nice mustang by the way, I just rented one of those as a convertible when I was out in LA a week or so ago and loved it. Made me miss the 3 mustangs I had before.... last one was an 87 GT.

But that was over 10 years ago when I finally sold that. :)
