Just got my hands on a Display Avic-D1 from Circus City @ $280.46. Took it to a "Professional" to install it. He charged me $150 and almost installed it.
Everything was working out beautifully till this morning when it gave me the "Please enter the correct disc crap message...
A) So what I did was hold down the eject button for a couple of seconds to be able to reach the lower slot. (Never had I touched that slot. West Coast DVD was already in when I purchased it.)
When I did open the screen it never went back up again. It's stuck down there for good it seems. I tried:
- Resetting using button
- Removed All the god damn fuses for more than 30 secs.
- Took the unit out, tried closing the LCD while unit in my hands
- Pulled all plugs and reconnected after 3 minutes.
- Re-installed unit flawlessly.
Funny thing is, upper cd slot works normal, CD's will play and the only functional button on the units are the Volume Buttons.
The screen seems to be showing all white and nothing else. Please shed some light on this if you can. Has anyone had that happened to them??
Unit never turned off when I tried it. I know all about the Source & Display button... but the problem is my amp and the speakers. It has drained my battery twice in the last five days. Power cable is coming from the Battery, to cap to stereo and then to the amp. The installer crook said that the AVIC should automatically turn it off when the switch is out of the ignition. But I don't trust a god darn word out of his filthy mouth.
1- Car's power will not effect the unit & amp & speaker in anyway.
2- When I turn off the unit's power using SRC button, Blue Side Lights will remain on, however I can hear the annoying hissss sound from the speakers, until battery runs out.
Anyone knows if it needs rewiring or what it needs???
C) Eject button of DVD-ROM (Lower Slot) is not functioning at all. Now, I still haven's tried the combination code for it yet, and also it was sold to me as the floor unit so that probably will fix the problem. However, this morning it started giving me the "Incorrect Disc" message which started it all.
I have a 2005 GMC Yukon SL - came with Bose CD player and 4 Bose Speakers.
Also I have:
-OnStar (which I barely use, specially with the Nav on the AVIC)
-GM ANTI-THEFT Passkey II lock.
-Volume, Source... steering wheel control
- 15" after market monitor for back seats.
- Soon to be installed: Remote Starter and Keyless Entry and keyless window control (Going to install myself)
- Custom bluetooth handsfree technology through AVIC and my Palm Treo 700p. (Will be installed by me)
Had installer guy, install the AVIC D1, four new speakers, amp and a '10 woofer (No Box).
-OnStar does not work
-Power Brake cable is not connected
-Steering wheel does not work
-Unit and Amp and speakers will only turn off upon ejection of fuses.
I appreciate you reading this long ass help topic from your fellow, newbie, Pioneer loving friend and soon expert on the AVIC series.
Please feel free to reply even if you just have ONE word to say.
Every little bit helps.
Oh, and did i mention that I am through spending another penny on the stereo or the car or myself??
Thanks again and have a great one!
