is it possible to have the screen blank ( black ) at night while driving?

ive seen other units whose displays that have been very distracting while driving.

dont ask me how i did it. But once when i had the ipod screen on i touched some option and it all dissappeared except for time and the ipod icon.

When on an audio screen, hit menu, then system, then screen off
