3rd party TV Tuner

I have Subaru outback with basically a 3 din. 2 din for the Z1 and a space where my old factory 6 disk changer was. Now it is just a pocket. I have seen you can buy third party DVD players with TV tuners built into them. Seems like it would be a nice idea to have this, as it plays DVD MP3, has RCA inputs, and can be used as a 2nd dvd player for the back seat (when I add video later). Anyone else try this, or would there be any reason not to use this over Pioneers tuner. You can get these devices for around 120 bucks. You wouldn't be able to control them from the touch screen, but that doesn't concern me. I also like the idea of a completely flush front (with out the pocket like when I had the factory stereo in)

Thoughts?

I was thinking of doing this also, but bought a drop down monitor with a dvd player as part of the unit. It really is nice to have a secondary source for playback. This keeps your unit available for other things, especially if you have a D3 that needs the navigation disks.

I have found that most TV tuners have a merely decent, if not marginally veiwable video signal. The Pioneer tuners have one of the best signals I have come across in my 20 years in the business. Those crazy boomerang limo antennas work pretty well, but the ridicule you would endure for having that on your trunklid outweighs the benefit. Unless you are Crocodile Dundee.

OrangeElement has the right idea, use the secondary DVD player for video (or audio, for that matter) while you have the nav disc in your D3. If it has a tuner, bonus.
