Ok this ones for the real installers out there. I got a tech question for you. I have the chevy hhr. There was no harness available when i installed my z1, so i hardwired everything. i dont have onstar or the amplified system, and i dont care about losing the chimes. the only thing i miss is the turn signal click. I know it sounds stupid, but in the hhr the signal doesnt reset unless you really turn, so when i change lanes my blinker stays on until i realize its still on. So i am one of those idiots driving arond with my blinker on.I was ready to go for the expense of the GMOS-LAN 03 which is the right interface for my car, but after reading the instructions found out it only gives you that click by running an external relay off the black/white wire on the GMOS, and the relay is actually what clicks. Any idea how else to do this without the GMOS. It just seems a little expensive since its not really even doing the one thing i need it for. Oh, and i'm also a little hard of hearing, so i dont think i would hear a relay clicking especially with the radio on
My turn to ask for help
well there has to be a relay somewhere that clicks when the turn signal is on, it may be under the hood or someplace you cant hear it, why not wire up a tiny speaker to the relays output?
well without bying the gmoslano3 the only idea i have is finding the left and right turn signal wires the most user friendly way to do this would be to grab the turn signal wires at the bcm....
The BCM (Body Control Module) is part of the fuse/relay box on the front passenger side of the center console. It has the following connectors: C1-72 pin gray plug, C2-72 pin gray plug, C3-41 pin red plug, and C4-68 pin lt. gray plug.
the left turn signal is a + lt blue wire at connecter 1 pin35 (large gray harness)
the right turn turn signal is + dark blue pin 17 in the same connector.......
all you would have to do is grab both wires..... diode isolate them(so your turn signals dont turn in to hazards and pic up a flasher relay at autozone for 4 bucks to tie it all in
4 bucks for the realy....2 dollars woth of wire/diodes=
6 dollar fix.... beats the shit outta 150 on a gmoslan03
The only problem with that is the turn signal outputs at the bcm can't handle any extra load. I tested it at work not too long ago. Actually Misfit if you're still wantin something to do this, I've got a setup half way done to do it.
yeah, thanks guys. that was like a month ago. i fiured it out like the next day with a couple of relays. but thanks anyway.
